Repair procedures
1. |
Remove wheel nuts, front wheel and tire from front hub.
Tightening torque:
107.9 - 127.5 N·m (11.0 - 13.0 kgf·m, 79.6 - 94.0 lb·ft)
![](images/front_strut_assembly-538/348/sybds6002d.gif)
Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front
wheel and tire.
2. |
Remove the cowl top cover.
(Refer to Body - "Cowl Top Cover")
3. |
Remove the strut lock nuts (A).
Tightening torque:
49.0 - 58.8 N·m (5.0 - 6.0 kgf·m, 36.2 - 43.4 lb·ft)

4. |
Remove the brake caliper hose bracket bolt (A) and wheel speed sensor
bracket bolt (B).
Tightening torque:
A : 8.8 - 13.7 N·m (0.9 - 1.4 kgf·m, 6.5 - 10.1 lb·ft)
B : 7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

5. |
Remove the stabilizer link nut (A).
Tightening torque:
98.0 - 117.6 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.7 lb·ft)

•
When loosening the nut (A), fix the outer hexagon of
stabilizer bar link.
•
Be careful not to damage the stabilizer link boots.
6. |
Loosen the bolts and then remove the strut assembly (A) from the knuckle.
Tightening torque:
98.0 - 117.6 N·m (10.0 - 12.0 kgf·m, 72.3 - 86.7 lb·ft)

7. |
Install in the reverse order of removal.
1. |
Using a strut spring compressor, compress the coil spring.
•
To prevent peeling the paint of coil spring, cover the
coil spring with a thin cloth or hose before installing
strut spring compressor.
•
Set the compression position of strut spring compressor
correctly for coil spring not to slant when compressing
the coil spring.
2. |
Using the SST (09546-3X100), loosen the self locking nut.
Tightening torque:
68.6 - 78.5 N·m (7.0 - 8.0 kgf·m, 50.6 - 57.9 lb·ft)
![](images/front_strut_assembly-538/348/sndss8510c.gif)
3. |
Remove the insulator, spring seat, coil spring and dust cover from the
strut assembly.
4. |
Reassembly is the reverse of the disassembly.
1. |
Check the strut insulator for wear or damage.
2. |
Check rubber parts for damage or deterioration.
3. |
Compress and extend the piston rod (A) and check that there is no abnormal
resistance or unusual sound during operation.

Disposal
1. |
Fully extend the piston rod.
2. |
